Jo has always been interested in politics, but in graduate school she focused on encouraging scientists to speak directly with policymakers as advisors. She believes that public outreach, especially to policymakers, is in scientists’ job description; society can’t fully benefit from the knowledge scientists generate if no one else understands or accesses it.
